20-1934-XX YFZ450 WATER REPELLENT AIRBOX COVER KIT

Prepare the area around top where Velcro is to be applied (Fig. 1 & 2) by lightly sanding and then wiping clean with a rubbing alcohol dampened rag.(Some may prefer removing the airbox for kit installation but it is not necessary.)

Cut and install supplied adhesive Velcro, the thin strip goes on area shown in fig. 2. (Allow 24 hours for Velcro adhesive to fully bond to plastic)

Position the Outerwears cover on the airbox and push down firmly all the way around to assure a good seal. (Fig. 3 & 4)

Depending on usage the water repellency of the cover should last about 1 year. The best cleaner to use is Outerwears, Inc. PRE-FILTER CLEANER which has been specially formulated to preserve the water repellent finish on the material.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR PART # 20-2262
SUZUKI LTR450 AIRBOX COVER

LIGHTLY SAND AND/OR CLEAN AREA WHERE THE SUPPLIED 3/8″ ADHESIVE VELCRO IS TO BE ATTACHED(FIG. 1).(Please be aware that there may be applications where you want to glue the Velcro to the airbox using heavy duty, high temperature adhesive).

ARROWS INDICATE RECOMMENDED START AND END POINTS FOR EACH STRIP OF VELCRO. SOME PIECES MAY NEED TO BE TRIMMED IN WIDTH TO FIT NARROW AREAS.

ALLOW VELCRO ADHESIVE TO BOND TO PLASTIC 24 HOURS BEFORE ATTACHING COVER.

Depending on usage, the water-repellency of the cover should last about 1 year. The best cleaner to use on your pre-filter is the Outerwears® PRE-FILTER CLEANER. This cleaner has been specially formulated to preserve the water repellent finish on the material. Allow to air-dry before replacing it on the airbox.

PRE-FILTER INSTRUCTIONS

Top piece

1. Without contacting pleated filter media, gently sand the surface where Velcro will be applied. (fig. 1)

Remove any dust and oil with a rubbing alcohol dampened rag.

2. Apply enough Supplied glue for only one piece of Velcro (fig. 2) remove backing from Velcro and apply

over glued area (fig.3). Repeat with other two pieces of Velcro, let set 24 hours.

3. Attach round pre-filter piece so top is evenly covered. (fig. 4). (center holes should line up)

Bottom piece

Line up welded seam of bottom pre-filter piece with pleated material clip on filter (fig 5),

cover entire element, allowing elastic to rest on rubber ends of filter (pulling over edge will not allow

proper seating in the air box) see figure 6.

Follow directions with the K&N filter to complete installation

(washers go on top of pre-filter).

Depending on usage the water repellency of the cover should last about 1 year.

Top piece

INSTRUCTIONS PN# 20-2450 RC Electric Motor Pre-Filter  

                    

1.  Remove the motor from the motor mounts.        2.  Remount the motor and reconnect the wires

     Disconnect wires leading to the motor                       to the motor

     Slide Pre-Filter over the motor with the

     elastic end toward the motor mounts

With filter removed from airbox pull Pre-Filter completely over the bottom edge of the air filter; Note make sure the elastic does not go over lip as illustrated in figure 1. by the arrow.

Punch small hole in center of top Pre-Filter and pull over top of filter as illustrated in figure 3 — Making sure to pull elastic of Pre-Filter top over top edge of filter.

Slip the Pre-Filter body over the top edge of the filter as illustrated in figure 4.

FLY WHEEL COVER INSTALLATION (20-2553)

  For proper installation of the Outerwears Fly Wheel Cover it is recommended to remove the motor from the vehicle.
1. Remove the motor from the chassis. There are a couple of ways to do this. (Refer to the vehicle owner’s manual)

  2. Once the motor is removed form the chassis, clean the area thoroughly with rubbing alcohol until all the dirt and grease is
removed.  Install Velcro® around the crankcase assembly edge to edge (see illustration A.), along the sides of the crankcase
assembly to the clutch housing (see illustration B.), and around the clutch housing (illustration 3.). Press the Velcro® firmly
into place.  Once the Velcro® is installed let it set for 24 hours for the adhesive to fully adhere.

  3. Install Fly Wheel Cover and reinstall the motor into the chassis.

                                

Dirt and debris collection is known to happen in the area between the crankcase and the chassis with or without a cover. Clean, wipe, or blow accumulated dirt and debris from this area after each use to ensure optimal engine performance.

1. Clean the side area of the chassis with rubbing alcohol until all dirt and debris are removed.
2. Apply the adhesive backed Velcro® all the way around the chassis and across the rear shock
mount as shown in figures A, B, & C.  Allow 24 hours for the adhesive to set.
3. Install the Outerwears shroud and fasten to the Velcro® on the chassis as shown in figure D.

1/8th & 1/10th scale vehicles

1) Remove shock assembly from vehicle.

2) Completely disassemble the spring from the shock assembly.

3) Place the Shockwear next to the spring for measurement purposes

4) Trim the Shockwears with sharp scissors to allow enough material to fold inside the spring for attachment. 

a.   Depending on artwork you may want to trim from both the top and the bottom of the Shockwear.

  i.      Roughly trim ¼” from each edge or ½” from one side (depending on Shockwear design)

b.Thread the Shockwears on (like a nut on a bolt).

5) Re-assemble spring to shock assembly

6) Re-install shock assembly to the vehicle.

Installation Instructions for Sprint Speed Screen

 
                               
   
1. Starting with the Speed Screen and Rail together, place the Speed Screen system behind the air dam cross member.

                              

  2. Using a Zip Tie through the holes in the rail strip, loosely attach to the chassis of the car.  starting with the top above the cross member on both sides, and then the middle on both sides, and then the bottom on both sides.
                    
 

 
       
             

3.Once the Speed Screen is attached to  the chassis, tighten down all Zip Ties drawing the Speed Screen nice and taut.

 
       
           

 

 

4. With the Speed Screen firmly attached to the chassis, the screen can now fully protect the radiator and be easily removed and re-installed for cleaning.
